This longer chainstay model is still very much within the dominant design envelope of a chain driven bicycle. We are, like true devotees, splitting hairs. But zooming out of the devotee cubby-hole, and taking a slightly more macro-economic perspective, let’s consider cameras... (see what I did there?)
The Leica M5 was supposed to be an improved version of the iconic M3, but many Leica fans didn’t go for it. Still, there’s a strong contingent of photogs who loved it from the get-go. Will the Neu-‘tlantis be the M5 to the M3, or will it be the M3 to the cIII?.. Leica camera purchases are driven to a significant extent by non-utility (and on top of it, it’s arguably a Veblen good - demand *increases* with price). I suspect that most Rivendell Atlantis purchases are driven by utility (that’s the nature of the bike), so no impact on sales. And for those potential customers with multiple bikes in the stable, why not offer something that’s likely to be *different* from what they already have? - Max “who used the M3 plenty but just may go for the Neu-‘tlantis ‘cos the roads aren’t getting any better” in A2. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
