I think you're worrying unnecessarily, John. To begin with, the issue with the CdlV isn't mainly that the tread is thick as much as it is the specific type of tread, i.e., the "mini-knobs". The Trimline was every bit as thick in the tread as the CdlV, but it had significantly less rolling resistance.
