Are you using the longest middle slots? I agree with Mark that it's kind of a bugger to install - you gotta get both bolts started first, then slowly alternate screwing them in - but I had it mounted on my 52cm Clem L without filing. Maybe your bike is bigger and the stays are wider at the mounting point?
