I have found end-to-stem cotton bartape/twine/shellac gets loose after a 
year of riding for me. The twine and cotton rotates like a solid cuff when 
it gets loose. Adding shellac gets it to stick to the bar again.

I have since gone to blue lizard skins and twine looks good on it, too. But 
again, the twined part is loosening in less than a year. Rotates a little 
like a solid cuff piece.
Next time I might wrap from the stem back to not have to use any holding 
device on the end.
I like the Lizard Skins blue. It matches the Rambouillet well.
