Back in 1971 or so, age about 16, I undertook my first complete bike rehabilitation (not my first build; that took place the previous year): an old Alvit-equipped Varsity, which I stripped of parts, of paint, then spray painted with oil-base gloss black enamel (with hand pinstriping in gold) using ..... a "Flit" insect spray gun:
