Brian, this thread may be exhausted but for what it’s worth I built up two sets of Sun rims this year. 26” Rhyno-Lite and 700c CR-18.
The Rhyno-Lites built up fine and I mounted Compass1.75s on them w/o much difficulty. The 700s were a different story. Front wheel went together okay. The rear tested my patience. I’ve built a number of wheels but this one was a real challenge. Finally got it correctly trued and tensioned but like you, mounting the tires (Paselas) was frustrating. Had to use levers and punctured one tube in the process. So yes, I feel uneasy about getting a flat on the road. Hoping the tires will stretch enough to ease the pain.
