In case anyone is, inexplicably, following along at home, here is my plan after a weekend of web surfing research, following my general approach of when in doubt, simplify, that’ll teach you a LOT. So:
Shift the Hunqapillar to 650b Sturmey-Archer 3-speed Dyno and drum brake wheel-set, geared essentialy equal to my Quickbeam low and high. I’ll still have the Sigurno double cranks, with 24/38 chainrings, so a I could carry a second chain sized for the 24t inner ring for bikepacking or steeper trails. A Hunqapillar geared in the spirit of the Quickbeam. Grin. It ticks all the boxes I’m looking for: weatherproofed drivetrain and braking, similar gearing to what I have now, 650b conversion to increase tire size and retain a ride feel closer to the 700x44. OF course my conversation with Grant and Co. this week may change any or all that. Grin.
