I seriously considered it, but I really dislike time in the car, and it's about 2 hours from Beacon. I would have brought my* Le Tour *(The Tour), *naturellement*. Or perhaps my 1960s Loison Bobet, although that currently has English Bluemels and is set up as a fixed gear. Maybe next year I'll give the Bobet the full Francophile treatment and plot a bike ride out there.
