I used to repair tubes at the spot of the puncture, but now carry 2 spares and 
just put on another tube and repair it at home. Instead of using those silly 
tubes, I bought a 8 oz. can of Slime brand rubber cement from an auto parts 
store. Being a sealed can with applicator, you can use it all and the can won't 
dry out. Works for me.
