I'm happy for the folks here who have had such positive experiences with
the SP hubs. I wish I could say the same!

My SP SV-9 had significantly more drag than my SON hubs when first
delivered. I hoped it would wear in, but it hasn't. Instead, it's gotten
much worse. As of this morning my SP hub has more drag unplugged and under
no load than my SON hubs have with headlight and tail lights on! I just
shot a little video to show the issue: https://www.youtube.
com/watch?v=g5YBals43L8

I'll also note that the SP SV-9 needs to go about 30% faster before
powering the headlight without flickering compared to my SON Delux Widebody
SL hubs.

Cycle Monkey, who does USA warranty support for SP, has been very
responsive but they do require me to unlace the wheel to get the hub
replaced. I'll then face the question of whether to ask Rich to rebuild
this wheel with used parts or just to replace everything. And then there's
Rich's wheelbuliding feel, of course.

In the end, this is going to be much more expensive than it would have been
to simply go with another SON hub. Wish I'd done that.

Best,
Reed
