I give a thumbs-up when it's clear to pass - since I get to see first - if I see first and it's not clear to pass, I give an old-fashioned Slow signal. Been working for me for years in redneckville - ok, not quite so bad, but there are some mean drivers here, and I guess there are everywhere You can't control them, but you can control you and how you communicate your presence and intentions to them.
