As always thank you for your time and thoughtful responses. I seem to have missed the obvious option, again... which was to try smaller tires on the Riv. I am so mentally locked into " breaking and flatting" that I keep the big apples on both riv and Fargo w the jones running maxxus 29 by 3.00....and that it is me not the frame tires gears or whatever. And that it really is like a Legol bike, easy to plug and play
