Rich, my newer xt rear hub's freehub body seized twice. Original and the replacement in less than 2 years. This failure turns the hub into a fixed wheel unexpectedly and depending on when it happens the consequences can be serious. "Toning it down" in regards to this failure mode does not seem like a good idea to me. I am not the only one this happened to either.
