We’re toying with a sag wagon family bike touring idea and I’ve been debating taking the QB or the Hunqapillar (talk about a decision where I can’t go wrong!). This morning I swapped out the Racing Ralphs for Thunder Burts and the Hunqapillar (still with the same full set of panniers and saddle bag) sure felt sportier on the paved and packed dirt roads (which is much of what the touring will be, with singletrack when I can). So I just made my decision harder.
Thus, having ridden both through all seasons and types of riding I’ve found where they best fit for me: TB: brilliant all rounder cross country tire. Equally plush to the RR. Not as good for loose, mud, slush, or snow, but noticeably zippier on pack and asphalt than RR. Likely my default summer tire. RR: Equally plush, thrives on slop of any flavor. Noticeably slower than TB on pack and asphalt. Likely my default autumn, winter, and spring tire.
