Rear brake set-up works so great, I've been doing long skids for fun, which I just couldn't do before. I thought about doing it on the underside, like René did, but figured it was worth a try like this, which really isn't much different. I'd say just go for it!
P.S. I still love this bike...I had to borrow a friend's aluminum racer with a carbon fork today because I got a flat (first, ever, in 3 years commuting daily on my Marathons) and it reminded me how incredibly smooth and comfortable the Cheviot is. I also couldn't return the Surly rack, because it was already scratched up from the Wald, but I made it work by lowering it a lot (thanks Kai), clamping to the lower fork, and then bolting to the braze-ons from a jerry-rigged second attachment. Pics soon. I still love 718, I think this guy is new.
