The Silver was the final run of Quickbeams. I remember because there was some 
discussion about the Q on the seat tube decal being a little odd and maybe 
slightly less refined than other Rivendell graphics. I think the silver was the 
only color that had that specific decal. 

I believe the Quickbeam was originally intended as a bike to be built by 
Rivendell's custom builder (Goodrich at the time?) to keep him busy. This was 
before the hand built bike boom. There are a few prototypes that were made 
before the project was moved to Panasonic in Japan. 

Being made in Japan is cool but I'm sure the quality is just as good on the 
Taiwan built Simpleone. I don't think there is any real difference between them 
besides the name. I've posted this before but I have a Taiwan built Quickbeam.
