Okay thanks all for the advice. Perhaps the 58 does not seem so over size in person. I have a 59 San Marcos which is a great fit but it's been 650B'd so I'm trying to factor in taller 29er wheels and bigger tires to what the standover clearance would be. San Marcos is already fairly "up there" when I straddle the top tube with thin shoes. Hopefully they build and sell (design) more bubbe rosco's. Those are funkadelic. Best bike ever is the cheviot so far. It makes you king of all you survey, so I thought maybe I'd dig a dirt drop with mega chainstays. Yeah that's the ticket.
