For what it's worth, I'm in exactly the same situation on the next size up. I'm 6'-2", which is supposed to be right in the middle of fit range for the 59, but the standover is too high for how I wanted to use it too. In my case, which is probably like you, that was as a casual, around-town, curb-hopping, light trail and rough roads bike. But I pretty much hit bone standing on level ground. As it is however, I like the bike so much that I've just found other ways to use it. It works surprisingly well as a fastish, smooth roads and bike path cruiser. If I even had a half-inch of clearance from my pubic bone, I'd be ecstatic and wouldn't hesitate to use it anywhere I wanted.
