Not really. My old Lemond Zurich was 853 Reynolds <http://www.torchandfile.com/TUBING_c_49.html>, specifically designed to be tigged. All the aluminum Canondales are tigged. That was even a selling point at one time--no heavy lugs! That said, living in a third-floor walk-up and owning a Clementine, I'm pretty sure the Clems are not 853. I think the OP will probably like the Clem, because it's a likeable bike.
