Of course, a caveat, "best" is subjective. I have found that statement to be true for many things: hand tools, hiking/camping gear and clothing, eye and ear protection, my Rivendell, and a lot more items I will remember once I post this.

I am a dyed-in-the-wool cheapskate for a lot of other things, just to be clear. Certainly not a fan of overspending for the most part.


"Best" can be completely objective, too: you just need criteria and a way to measure. Cost-effective is one way to measure "best". Most expensive != "best", best is best but it can also be the most expensive.
