Are you a blustery bonzo? (amalgamation of gonzo and bozo and perhaps buffoon
and more!) If so, what in the world have you found that at temps/winds of 10˚F
and below...:

1. keeps your nose attached, with feeling,
2. doesn’t fog your glasses/goggles,
3. allows you to turn your head,
4. doesn’t stink up in 10 minutes because it’s fake fabric
5. allows nose breathing without moisture buildup that then prevents nose
breathing

I’ve now (I think) gotten all my gear (mittens, hat, jacket, insulative layers,
boots, etc) sorted but this. The face mask issue. Neoprene sucks, fake fabric
fluffies suck, wool collects too much moisture and doesn’t block the wind
(50-60 mph on descents).

I am experimenting with a cotton twill “surgeon’s mask” that comes closest so
far. I cut out a nose breathing hole (ties over top/back of head and around
neck). But it fogs up my glasses. And on this morning’s ride which started out
at 10˚F when climbing the pass (so no mask required, only a slight breeze into
my face and I at climbing speeds, and 10˚F just ain’t that cold till you get
30+ mph winds), warmed up to 20˚F with the beautiful sparkly and far too warm
sun rise, so my experiment must wait for definitive results. Meanroad, I
thought I’d tap into you lot and see what you find works for you.

With abandon,
Patrick
