I'm trying to pull the crankset on a Sam I bought built from Riv last year
and I just made the realization that my Park CCP-22 tool (the small blue
handled one) is too broad to fit past the square hole in the crank arm.
I've used this tool many times on many cranks over the last couple decades
with no problem but have never run into a crank opening that is sized too
small for the tool to make contact with the spindle. Any thoughts on what
tool to use? My first thought was there must be a washer still in there,
but there isn't. My next thought was to cut a length of steel round stock
(4mm or 5mm diameter) to insert into the spindle, long enough to stick out
past the square taper and give the tool something to push against once the
other part of the tool is threaded into the dust cap threads.
