I've found that a mudflap there has been very useful in keeping the
drivetrain much cleaner, even though in my case it's keeping more dust
off the chain than water, and it works for water, too.

That Rohloff hub is amazing; I hope you've seen this:

One of my dreams is to live to see frames like Quickbeams and otheres,
and parts like the Rohloff made in the USA again, made by my high
school students... MUSA parts!
