But don't forget that there is a *dinstinguo* involved here: carbon fiber as a bike frame material, and, quite different, stupid-light use of carbon fiber. Someone onlist recently juxtaposed a stock ultralight (10 lb?) complete bike in carbon fiber with a 275 lb rider weight limit and a 25 year warranty, and a similarly light one-off in steel, with a 140 lb rider weight limit.
And don't forget which fork won the Rivendell hand-to-hand contest. As always, there is reasonable use of a building material and stupid use of a building material. Aside: the rider, who acts like an ass, seems just the sort of rider who would choose stupid light.
