BTW, one lesson I learned the hard way about optimum fender installation is, "choose your calipers!" One reason I messed up sets 1 and 2 was the Silver dual pivot calipers -- they just do not work well with fenders, at least on this bike. By comparison, the old Dura Ace calipers -- these are the model with the twist barrel quick release in place of the usual lever -- fit almost perfectly, except for a very soft contact of the left arms (facing forward) with the top of the fenders. But the fenders don't interfere with the caliper action.
Next: Mudflap. I think this one will be narrow -- less wind resistance, no? -- so it needs to be stiff while measuring some 7 or so inches long. Suggestions? The VO leather ones are nice, but too short (and leather is otherwise not the ideal flap material). Question: do y'all think that a flexible one will still perform when blown back at a 45 to 90 degree angle (blown back in the gale of my progress)? I want to keep the bb area as clean as possible -- we have another 3-4 weeks of "monsoon" yet to go. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
