Thanks. I am very pleased not only with the real world capacity, but also with the bikes stability (minus bags hanging from the bar), and the quick on and off solution.
I bet that under such loads the rear rack would rather quickly break under long distances -- I can't find any officially listed capacity, but I'll bet it's less than 50 lbs. I may go back and refashion the wooden braces and basket floor, having rather gouged the originals up by trial and error assembly (process known technically as 3D trial and error design).
