You may want to try a peer-to-peer rental like Spinlister (There may be 
others).  Here's what came up for me when I typed in Minneapolis:

There was an Alex Singer and a Surly LHT on there.  Handsome is also 
located there and have some nice bikes.  The owners grew up idolizing 
Bridgestone and their Handsome Devil is a pretty nice bike (a little more 
aggressive geometry than Rivs).  They may have demos to rent.
