The Allez looks fine to me as a low end road bike, though I wonder -- am not complaining -- about the short chainstays. Isn't the Allez a sort of nostalgia, budget copy of the RB 1? Sure, Rivendell could do better, but you'd not be paying $810 for a complete bike, either.
