At the end of a cold/flu and feeling good this morning, I headed up one of two
routes I can take for free (there is the Pikes Peak toll highway, which I’ll be
getting a pass for now, but I get ahead of myself) to ride to the single track.
It’s a lovely two lane paved road to 9,000 feet on Pikes Peak. About half way
up, I see creosote power poles laid out by the side of the road. Ugh!

With my brain injury and being a wimp with overstimulation, attempting to ride
past these things last year ended two bikepacking trips (different road, and
one that is likely very ridable for me now) and took a week+ to recover from
each time. So I’ll give this route a year before I ride it again. Good news is
I learned to just turn around at the first sign and made it home no worse for
the wear. “Adventure” comes in all forms!

So, problems of the abundant options kind, I’ll be buying a pass for the Pikes
Peak Highway so I can access that trail system.

It was looking like I’d have snow drifts still on the trail, based on how white
Pikes Peak is, but I turned around before getting any pictures of her in her
white flowing gown. Perhaps this coming week I’ll get the pass and the snow
trail adventure will still be there!

With abandon,
Patrick
(curious to see if being intolerant of creosote poles gets folks up in arms.
Grin.)
