As a wise someone once told me, perfection is an affront to god. I've now got it, perfect chainline, but at what cost? Check out the picture. With a 103mm bottom bracket (branded Sugino, with Suntour branded bearings), this is my XD2 triple after having shaved off a millimeter of aluminum so it could spin freely within the bracket. My question: How terrible was it to try this? And worse, if I want to keep the 103mm, is this a spot where I, being a fairly competent metal worker, could remove more material without lingering fear of catastrophic failure?? Thanks -Kai Brooklyn NY
