Evan- Thank you for the offer to help. The seller and I have been able to work it out so I am all set.
The part of the story I did not have time to type this morning when I thought the bike was getting away from me is that part of the reason for buying a bike so far from home is that I will be coming to San Francisco in September to ride from there to LA with some colleagues. The seller has agreed to store the bike for me until I pick it up then. Once I get a chance to ride my new-to-me Rivendell I will provide a report!
