Are the roads of England really clogged with unsmiling, affluent, Lycra-clad
zombies?

Hi, all,

Zombies??

The UK is one of the hearths of long distance cycling and cyclotouring.

In my limited experience, the USA finds more snobs on the roads than anywhere
in Europe or the UK.

That said, the home of the Carradice fielded a huge crowd of people on
decidedly modern bikes at PBP in 2011. But they were uniformly friendly in my
experience, only outperformed in sociability by riders from Carhaix, Seattle,
and Greece.

USA riders included the vast majority of the fender-carrying, front-loading,
fat tire spinning, dynamo-dragging, wool jersey'd bunch, and we were the
minority even among our own clubs.

Cheers,

Will
