Mrs. WETH and I signed up to ride the Ocean to Bay Bike Tour; we chose the 30
mile route as a she has not ridden much over the winter. There were four ride
options: 100 mile, 62 mile, 50 mile and 30 mile; you could change your mind and
ride any route at the ride start. After a pre-rush hour getaway Friday
afternoon we arrived at our favorite B&B in Bethany Beach, DE, The Addy Sea.

Saturday Morning arrived chilly and windy. The event was well attended; we
counted bib numbers into the 2400s. However, I never felt overwhelmed by the
numbers as they staggered start times by miles to be ridden. For The first 7
miles we cycled through neighborhoods and commercial areas. After the mile 7
rest stop, we headed into Holts Landing State park and then into the rural
countryside as the mass of riders thinned. We saw many tractors preparing
fields for planting. About mile 18, the route turned east, back toward the
ocean, and the head winds found us! The mile 22 rest stop featured a live
band, snacks, and hot dogs. Despite the head wind the weather was close to
perfect: clear, blue sky and temperatures in the mid 50s.

I rode my Romulus; my wife enjoyed the numerous compliments it received. (I did
too!) I saw no other Riv riders, but I hope they were there enjoying the day!

Hope everyone got to bike this weekend.
