Clif,
I find the hills of the Dam Loop (60 miles of 360/2244/620) are
good training for our rides. When you get serious, you'll want to
become a RUSA member, but Wayne (our RBA) is welcoming to all
cyclists, RUSA or not. I'd love to see more traditional minded
(lugged steel, Brooks, racks and bags) cyclists in our ranks. If you
can average 15 mph over 100 miles, you're ready for a 200K. Slower is
fine, too. You're bound to have company whatever pace you ride at.
Far more important than fast is to be prepared (self-sufficient for
repairs), efficient in and out of "controls" (checkpoint stops), well
fueled, dressed for the range of temperatures and so forth.

Hope to see you in January. Maybe we won't have 20 degree bottle
freezing weather like last Saturday!

Jeff
