I am all about the split. I slowly switched over all my bikes to having
saddles with a split.

My fav that I have on two bikes now is the brooks CAMBIUM C17 S CARVED. The
ladies cambium with the split. Best of anything I have tried.

I also agree that a lot has to do with angle. I know my tendency when I
first started riding was to put the nose pointed down too much. I totally
seemed logical that if I am getting too much pressure on my stuff to get
the nose as far away as possible. Now I realize it better to be totally
flat or at least a tiny bit pointed up. Keeps you naturally cradled on the
seat vs too much pressure from keeping you on the seat.
