If the Brooks website is to be believed, the primary ingredients for the current recipe are tallow and cod oil. Probably why they recommend keeping the tin in the freezer.
Efficacy has probably not diminished, but the only good smelling ingredient is the last on the list, and I don't see citronella winning the olfactory cage match against rancid rendering.
