The vibration theory is really intriguing. I've rotated the connector around so 
that it faces "down" as suggested and will see if it continues to move against 
or with the hub rotation. I can confirm plenty of rough street input to the 
fork as I commute, so if the road vibration is a driving factor, I wonder if I 
can find a null point where both directional forces are equalized?  The mind 
does wander commuting on frozen , dark streets.
