I have two injured vertebrae in my neck - sitting at stoplight in my GTV6
and watching in my mirror as a guy drove into the back. The injury has
been projected to degenerate for over 20 years. When the injury has been
perturbed, I temporarily lose feeling in my arms and even the ability to
write. So dodging cervical strain is a priority for me. I've never used
Albas, but my last-year's upright built on Ahearne Map bars is the
lowest-strain setup I've ever ridden, for upper back, knees, and all the
way to my wrists. The hand position and especially the bar rake is natural
and relaxed, though it took a couple of hundred miles to dial that in.

Of course fit is everything, getting the reach right, getting the seat
right for pedal position. But I have been 88 mi on this bike without a
circulation pinch anywhere.

This bike is built on a cyclocross frame, so the wheelbase and top tube are
particularly short in comparison to Riv geometry.

I could see Albas being a much better reach on a longer top tube bike.
