I thought mine came with shims, at least that's what I used on my 
Hillborne.  I mounted them onto the Bullmoose Bosco's on my Hunq without 
shims or tape or anything beneath.  The are firm, but I can easily move 
them around as I need in the case that I am carrying something in the front 
basket when travelling.
