I'd go for the porteur rack myself . Baskets are fine for light stuff , but if you really want to carry some beer and weighty stuff on a regular basis get a porteur for the porter ! With the Soma you can still add some small bags or attach stuff on the side too without interfering with the platform. Baskets mounted to a tiny platform is not a durable long term solution , it's just a cheap way to make it bigger . Considering the cost though of a Marks rack the Soma is not much more and can be had w/o rails for $132 or so for the Deluxe .
I thought the Marks rack was the bees knees when I got it , but a few years later I find it too small for my preference . I'd rather have a larger platform . It's funny if you look at all Riv staff bikes almost all of them with a mini rack have baskets on them . The platform isn't big enough for them either , but adding a basket to me is a "cheap" way to make it bigger but is not designed to last as baskets are not meant to be mounted to the wire itself. If Nitto made porteur rack I'm sure it'd be a popular product and you'd see fewer baskets . Regardless , opinions abound , none of them really matter ;) On Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 1:51:57 AM UTC-4, Tim Wood wrote: > > As the shipping date for my Clem draws nearer I am at an impasse with > regard to accessories.
