Cecily, I appreciate your advice. Right now, I am saving my knee and not riding much. I think I'll continue with the injections every six months and plan on surgery (maybe) next winter. I HAVE to ride (for mental wellness -chronic severe PTSD) so I am in the same situation as you were. I miss riding in the mountains and I love being on the bike. Please, please keep me up to date on your recovery. You're my Gold Standard. I am working on a new bike hack for quick release fenders. I'll share when finished... Thanks and may the Pedal be with you!Clayton

It was the last thing I had left (after being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis), and it was a huge part of my mental wellness, as well as the only physical activity I could do with only a minimum amount of pain. Things had been going downhill steadily for about two years, but not being able to ride my dream bike (my Betty Foy) was the event that made the decision for me. I have talked to a couple of folks here in town that have had knee replacements that have said, "You'll know when it is time". I will? I have had eleven or twelve surgeries on various injuries and am burned out on going through the process....Ugh. I am now in knee conservation mode. I only ride when I have to (without a car, it's still daily). What made you decide it was time? Your attitude is great! I am excited for you!
