I had to look up Dickerson on a map, and noticed it is near the Monocacy 
Aqueduct.  We spent our first night in a H/B site just north of the 
Aqueduct...

I'm not sure if that is the area you are asking about, but I believe the 
trail was generally in pretty good condition in the vicinity, but with a 
few muddy spots to keep it interesting.  Maybe Tom or Jeff can be more 
helpful.
