Mitch, As I recall the Amtrak-provided boxes are quite a bit bigger than a standard bike box. They're designed to hold a bike with both wheels still on the bike, so as long as the bars do not stick out beyond the front wheel you'll be ok that way. The bigger question is width, but I think it will still work -- the only real way to tell is to turn your handlebars and measure the width and length of the bike and bars and compare to the box dimensions.
