I will ride 85% dirt roads, 15% paved with my Hunq in northern VT. No singletrack with this machine.
The dirt roads up here I think are different than those that have captivated the gravel grinding craze of late - here they are either hard packed dirt, recently graded looser fine grained dirt with golf ball size rocks, or straight up mud/ice mixture come winter. There really isn't any of that finer grained gravel that people wax on about and for which something like the Rat Trap was designed. In winter, I run Schwalbe's Ice Spiker Pros, a tire I am firmly committed to. The rest of year, what tires should I run? Right now debating between Thunder Burts (2.25) and Super Motos (2.35).
