I enjoy reading Grant's posts bikes, parts, wear & tear, repairs, etc. I usually learn something.
As someone who's worked with the public for 30 odd years, I can sympathize with Grant's frustration, and with his need to say something in his blog when something in the bike business bothers him. He works hard to provide excellent customer service, and hires great, friendly, extremely helpful people who make Riv what it is. So when one of his customers treats him like this person did, I feel he has the right to say something. It seems to me Grant was explaining the realities of silver shifters in the hope that people would take better care of theirs and politely order a replacement when they wear out. Grant's people are always great to deal with when I've busted something, and have always been polite enough not to mentioned the fact that I'm an idiot for breaking whatever it is I broke.
