Well then... maybe a Surly Crosscheck. Good middle-of-road option. General do-all capability. Takes reasonable rubber and fenders. Has canti-posts. Rack brazes front and rear. Probably less than $1200. Cheaper if she waits until late fall. Gotta be a dealer in Dallas.
