Congrats! We are a 1 car family, but my wife needs to drive all over for work, so I'm usually carless. I don't think he started riding in the trailer until he was 2. It just didn't feel like he was sturdy enough when riding through our pothole-laden streets. We used the stroller and/or CTA a lot, he didn't mind one bit even in the dead of winter. He's 4 now, we've been zipping around all summer in a trail-a-bike with a backrest and short distances in his own bike. My wife was really apprehensive at first. I slammed together a 650b conversion from a Centurion LeMans for her recently, and taking rides all together helped alleviate her fears. I also have no qualms about taking the trail-a-bike on the sidewalk if the street gets too hairy, or even walking it if we have to. We go slow and stay out of everyone's way. I would wait at least until spring to give a trailer or a rack carrier a try. - Fred On Monday, August 24, 2015 at 1:06:36 PM UTC-5, David Banzer wrote: > > I'm sort of carless and rely on bicycles for transportation.
