Rene:

Here's my 2 cents.

With bar ends (or downtube shifetrs) Anything works with anything. So, just
change your rear der and cassette for way less. My Saluki runs Chorus 10 speed
triple cranks and front der with a ShimaNo XT rear der and big pancake cogset.
It's a 9 speed and I don;t think I've ever used them all.

I have a Campy Veloce 10s compact double on a late 70s steel bike with a 105
rear der running running a 7 speed freewheel. It works fine as well.

Tailwinds,

Bruce

Subject: [RBW] Drivetrain question... AHH with 9 vs 10 speeds...

- Compact crankset 34/50
- 11/28 10 speed cassette
- Sram Rival front & rear derailers.

Does it make sense to switch to a complete 9 speed drivetrain and sell the Sram
Rival drivetrain, which would help lower the cost of the switch? I seem to
think so, but wanted to get your opinions and feedback.
