Funny. I've done many complete teardowns, builds, and rebuilds using a concrete floor, or while propping the bike against a wall; or, in fact, holding the bike up with my head as I squatted to use both hands on a cheap, cup 'n' cone bb without the aid of a pin wrench (nail and hammer + pipe wrench or vise grips). Life would have been much easier with hooks suspended from the ceiling!
