Many of you noticed I had 5 bikes up for sale. I had wanted to sell 2, and ended up selling 3. One of the three was a local sale, which is always great. The other two I was kind of dreading because of shipping costs. But, I had seen a couple people mention BikeFlights. It's basically a website that allows me to schedule shipping a bike. I can declare a value for insurance, specify pick-up or drop-off, specify signature policy on the other end. It was super easy. Only at the end did I realize that the shipper is FedEx. I dropped off a Bombadil frameset with a few other parts in the box. Insured for $1400 and going FedEx Ground from California to New York State, it was $54. I think that's pretty great considering the high price horror stories I'd heard.
